Ilyas Huseynov / Head of the Center for Turkic World Studies

Born on 31 October 1985 in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan.

Education

From 2001 to 2005, he studied at Baku Slavic University, Faculty of International Relations and Regional Studies, majoring in Greek Studies, and obtained a Bachelor’s degree.

From 2005 to 2007, he pursued a Master’s degree in Regional Studies (European Countries) at the Faculty of Regional Studies and Economics of Baku Eurasian University and graduated with honors.

From 2017 to 2020, he pursued doctoral studies in International Relations at Baku Slavic University.

In 2026, by the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 18 February, he was awarded the academic degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Political Sciences in the field of “5901.01 – International Relations.”

Academic and Teaching Activities

From 2019 to 2020, he worked as a lecturer at the Department of Political Science of Western Caspian University.

Since 2022, he has been working as a lecturer at the Department of Sociology of Baku State University.

He is the author of more than 50 scientific articles and conference papers published in local and international academic journals.

Professional Experience

From 2012 to 2015, he worked as a Leading Consultant in the Information Support and Analysis Sector of the Sabunchu District Executive Authority.

In 2017, he worked as a Specialist in Doctoral Studies at the Master’s and Doctoral Studies Sector of Baku Eurasian University.

From 2019 to 2026, he worked at the Center for Social Research, serving successively as a Leading Consultant, Senior Consultant, and Head of Sector in the Department of Domestic Policy Analysis.

Since April 2026, he has been serving as the Head of the Center for Turkic World Studies (TDAM) at the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication.

He speaks Azerbaijani, English, Turkish, Russian, and Greek.

He is married and has two children.
